It's been a while

Sorry it has been so long since I have shared anything, but my kidney issues have made it difficult for me to spend much time in the studio.

I am working hard trying to get caught up on all current restorations, and hope to be able to start taking on new projects soon.

Here is one of the latest restorations. Polaroid photos tend to darken around the edges first. Thanks to a little magic, the faces are able to shine again.

From Cracked to Clean

I may not always know the reason why a photo has cracks and creases, but I am certainly glad that I know how to take them from Cracked to Clean.

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

A Visit with Santa

Here's the latest restoration out of the studio.

The yellow colorcast was removed, the missing parts restored, and the fading reversed.

Not only did I breathe life into a customer's treasured memory, but I hope it scored some points with Santa to get on the Nice List.

The Studio is Busy

The studio has been very busy lately and I could not be happier. I love what I do.

Unfortunately, I cannot share the most recent restorations as they are gifts that have yet to be given.

Instead, I am going to share one of my favorite photos of my in-laws.

Thanks to the invention of the camera, we can get a glimpse of precious moments from the past. In this instance, the start of my husband's family.

We'll be at the Monroe Farmers Market tomorrow from 7am-noon. Bring your family's treasured memories with you when you come to market, and we can talk about breathing new life into them.

A Little Touch-Up

Not all of the photos I work on need a lot of restoration work. Some need a little touch-up and to be resized to meet today's print sizes.

This is one such photo. I did a little color correction and resized it to print as a 4x6.

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

Family Memories Restored

I really do love what I do. Restoring photos is my passion, it is my way of preserving the past for future generations.

With that said, I love how this one turned out.

The original had some minor fading and a red colorcast. Now its brilliant colors can shine on for many years to come.

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

The New Family Heirloom

According to the Meriam-Webster dictionary, an heirloom is defined as, "something of special value handed down from one generation to another."

It could be a piece of furniture, jewelry, fine china, or silver. Some of the problems with family heirlooms is that not everyone sees the sentimental value they embody, or they lack the physical space in which to house them.

Digital photos, however, are the new family heirloom that can easily be handed down through the generations.

They can be shared and stored on a computer, uploaded to the cloud, sent via email, or saved to an external hard drive.

Instead of printing, framing, and hanging them on the wall; they can be displayed in a digital photo frame along with other treasured memories.

These pictures can be included in a variety of digital or print projects such as calendars, photobooks, slideshows, and videos.

Customers receive a digital version of every photo we restore.

We are proud to help families create and share new family heirlooms.

This photo is one of my family's heirlooms as it contains four generations (from left to right: my grandmother, me, my great-grandmother, and my aunt that I'm named after).

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

Let the Wedding Bells Ring

I truly love what I do. Breathing new life into my customer's treasured memories and seeing how happy they are with my work brings me great happiness and fulfilment.

January 20th of this year marked 62 years since the following wedding photo was taken. Although the groom is no longer with us, his beautiful bride brought me this photo hoping it wasn't too late to get it restored.

She was so happy with the result and began to tear up when she saw what I was able to do with it. The sun had faded their faces, but now, as she happily exclaimed, "you can see our faces again." The wedding bells are ringing once more.

Moment like this, make my day.

What treasured memories can I breathe new life into for you?

From Dark to Bright

A customer brought me a photo of her grandmother that she wanted restored as a gift for her aunt.

The original was a black-and-white photo that had some discoloration. One half of the photo was very dark and made it difficult to see the woman's facial features. She also wanted the picture changed from a black-and-white into a sepia-tone instead.

I love how well the restoration turned out. It went from a dark and discolored photo to a warm and bright picture of a beautiful woman.

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

A look at how I do it

During my last restoration project, I had three different headshots of my customer's father.

The first was a large 16x20 photo of him that was torn in half, right through his head. There were lots of other bits and pieces from the picture's background.

Note: Click the photo to view a larger version.

The second photo was a photo of him on the back of a small mirror. Other than some fading and cracks, it wasn't in too bad of shape. The mirror was in pretty good condition also.

The third photo, I saved a few stills at various stages of the restoration process. The following is a video I created that shows the progression from start to finish. The before and after photos are below the video.

Christmas 1995

To some, 1995 doesn't seem like it is too long ago. However, 26 years can take a toll on a family's precious memories.

Because the photo was printed from a film camera, one would need the original negative and a developing studio to get another copy. It isn't a digital photo that can be printed over and over.

There wasn't a lot wrong with this photo other than some fading and a slight colorcast.

After a little time in the studio, it has been digitized and restored to its former glory. It will last for many generations to come.

Let us breathe new life into your family's treasured memories.

Keeping the Magic of Christmas Alive

Christmas is a magical time, and it's a shame if we let those memories fade away. They become even more important when they include loved ones that are no longer with us.

After some time in the Studio, we were able to rescue this magical moment from the early 1970s.

Time doesn't stand still, but with a little assistance, we can make sure the memories last a lifetime and beyond.

What treasured memories can we breathe new life into for you?

Happy Holidays 1981

Holiday photos remind of us great times, and become even more important when those in them are no longer with us.

This little gem, from 1981, was discolored and washed out. After a little time in the studio, it looks as good as new.

We have gift certificates available. They can be purchased every Saturday at the Monroe Farmers Market from 7am-Noon.

Check Out This Stocking Stuffer

In late December of 1970, the local hospital sent newborns home in a stocking.

This photo restoration was of one of those babies. The photo was taken underneath the family's Christmas tree.

Future generations will now be able to enjoy this photo and all of the stories that go along with it.

What treasured memories can we restore for you?

Happy Birthday Grandma

Today would have been my grandmother's birthday. She is celebrating in Heaven now, but at least she is with my grandfather.

I have several photos from various birthdays, but I loved the smile in this one taken during the late 1970s.

We would love to restore a treasured memory for you.

Remembering a Great Grandfather

My mother's cousin recently sent me some photos of their grandfather, my great-grandfather. The following pictures are from the late 1910s and 1920s.

The first is a photo of him in his Word War I uniform. It was taken before he shipped off to Europe.

The rest of the photos are of Monroe Steel Castings, where he was employed after the war.

Although the castings plant is no longer around, it is fun to get a peek at life from 100 years ago.

Rock-a-bye Baby

Photos, much like us, tend to show their age over time.

This baby photo from 1968, was beginning to fade and become discolored.

After a digital facelift, this photo may be 53 years old, but now looks as good as the day it was taken.

We provide free estimates for all projects. What can we transform for you?

From Gloomy to Grand

Time had begun to take its toll on this graduation photo from the early 1940s.

The original black-and-white, wallet-sized photo had some tearing, was cloudy, and had a pinkish colorcast that obscured some of the details.

Now it is much brighter and cleaner. Not only is it back to being a black-and-white photo, but there is also a sepia version. Both were enlarged to print as 4x6 photos.

This graduation photo went from gloomy to grand.

We'd love to help your treasured memories last for many years to come.

From Flat to Festive - The Family Farm

I'm sorry it has been awhile since I've posted. My post-surgical recovery took a little longer than expected, and I've been busy working on several photos for customers.

This particular restoration is an aerial picture of a family's farm. It was taken in the late 1960s or early 1970s. A family friend owned a small plane, so they flew over and took the photo.

The colors were worn and it had a few cracks and creases. After a little time in the studio, this family's treasured memory has gone from flat to festive.

What can we breathe new life into for you?

From Sad to Sassy

Time has sucked the life out of this photo. The colors have turned this joyful family gathering into a sorrowful affair.

Thanks to the magic of Photoshop, this little beauty has gone from sad to sassy.
