Another special restoration

I have been working a lot on restoring family photos. It has been a true labor of love.

This photo didn't need a lot of work, but I wanted to clean it up a bit and then crop out a lot of the background to increase the focus on the subjects.

These three people mean a great deal to me. They are my mother, my grandmother, and my oldest son. It was taken during the summer of 1999 in my grandmother's garage.

Had I not been the one taking the photo, it would have been a four-generation photo.

I'm happy that my grandmother was around long enough to get to meet both of my boys. I only hope that my oldest still has a few memories of her.

I know which restored version is my favorite, can you guess?

Baking Christmas Cookies - Restored

This photo brings back a lot of memories. It is of me and my younger brother making Christmas cookies.

The original photo has a purple colorcast, as well as other color distortions. There is some slight fading also.

It was taken in the 1970s so it is square and has a honeycomb finish. This is what happened to photos that were printed with a matte finish.

I am fairly pleased with the restored version, but may revisit it again one day.

Basic Restoration - Family Photo

Here is the most recent restoration out of the studio.

The original photo has some fading and discoloration.

Not only was I able to fix those issues, but I was also able to sharpen the facial features.

Wedding Day Photo - Fully Restored

Here is the fully restored version of my in-laws' wedding day photo. I created sepia and black & white versions.

The only thing I have left to do is crop and save each version in various print sizes.

Wedding Day Photo Restoration - Making Progress

Well, it's been a very slow process, but I am making progress on this wedding photo restoration.

I still have the lower, left side of the photo to finish restoring. Her hands will be the big challenge. This area is the most damaged portion of the photo. The light coloring of her suit makes all of the cracks and creases very noticeable.

Stay tuned for the completely restored version!

It's been a while

Sorry it has been so long since I have shared anything, but my kidney issues have made it difficult for me to spend much time in the studio....
